Nicole Dufault, a 40-year-old New Jersey teacher, pleaded guilty to having sex with minor students. The teacher pleaded guilty to having sex with six male students. The woman worked at Columbia High School giving literature classes and confessed to having had sexual contact with these students - ages 14 to 15 - on "multiple occasions." The encounters took place between 2013 and 2014 at the same school and in the teacher's car, Essex County prosecutors argued.
Authorities also revealed that they had a video showing the teacher performing oral sex on one of the students while another teenager was nearby. The woman will have to return to court to be sentenced on June 8, according to reports. Dufault will have to register as a sex offender and will no longer be able to serve as a teacher.
After pleading guilty, the woman reached an agreement with the prosecution, in which she will have to go to jail for five years. Dufault is a divorced mother with two children who was arrested in 2014 after being involved in these sexual abuse cases at the high school where she had worked for nine years. Dufault's attorney told NJ.com that her client had had surgery on her brain and sustained frontal lobe injuries, making her more likely to act impulsively.
