If someone had the slightest hope, however small, that Aurelio Casillas would revive and return to do his thing in El Señor de los Cielos (Telemundo), last night he hit the ground against reality. And, unfortunately, there is no turning back or anything that can be done.

The superset that Rafael Amaya starred for six years last night dismissed his protagonist in style in a heartbreaking chapter -probably the most emotional in the entire saga- that culminated in the funeral and burial of the famous drug trafficker.

The children of Aurelio Casillas, Rutila (Carmen Aub) and Ismael (Iván Arana), as well as their mother, Doña Alba (Lisa Owen), undoubtedly starred in the most painful scenes of an episode that left the faithful followers of the veteran fiction of the Spanish-speaking network.

Tears seized not only the characters, but also the viewers who could not detach themselves from television during the 40 minutes that the episode lasted. There was no time to blink.

"I swear I cried", you can read among the thousands of comments that flooded the networks as a result of what happened.

Both Rutila, Ismael and Doña Alba dedicated emotional parting words to Aurelio that struck a chord with thousands of fans of El Señor de los Cielos.

Ismael Casillas (Iván Arana)

"You left us soon, very soon, and this to save us all and we will always thank you, you know. All of us who are here will never forget you."

Rutila Casillas (Carmen Aub)

"Apa, I spent my whole life answering everything you said to me and today I don't know what to tell you. But that was our way of loving each other, that's how you and I loved each other and I know that you loved me no matter how hard you were and now I'm going to miss you, I won't have anyone to argue with."

Doña Alba (Lisa Owen)

"My son died in the law he lived: that of lead, that of all of you. I know that you were not the only millet but they put this poor country into an absurd war for which we are all responsible, all of me. To give birth to your brother Chacorta and to you yes, the lord of the heavens. Now it was true for you, millet. You got into this, presumably to get out of misery and just look where all millet ended up: war, death … So here today in front of the corpse of my son, in the middle of all this circus that I did not agree with, I ask you to stop […] drugs, what do you think this life is? And you are going to continue bringing death and desolation to this country, answer me?"

Just as the Casillas family said goodbye to Aurelio, some followers of the veteran superset also took advantage of the drug trafficker's funeral to say goodbye to fiction since for many the saga came to an end last night with the burial of its protagonist.

"Goodbye Aurelio, until never Mr. of the Skies. You are already well buried next to this series that you gave life to. Last day I saw it," commented a fan of the fiction on Instagram.

Aurelio's death marks the beginning of a new stage in the superset in which the recently inaugurated Cartel de los Casillas, led by Rutila and Ismael, promises to continue waging war in the absence of the famous drug trafficker who is already history of Mexico.

The Lord of the Skies airs Monday through Friday at 10 PM ET.
