A 33-year-old Hispanic mother died Saturday in Irving, Texas, after being savagely attacked by her two pit bull dogs, whom she had taken for a walk.

Irving police sources reported that this Saturday afternoon Johanna Villafane, originally from Argentina and mother of two children - according to the local newspaper AlDíaDallas.com reports - went to the Parkland animal shelter, where the dogs had been taken days before. The animals were quarantined because they had escaped from their home and bitten a person.

At the time of the attack the woman had taken the two animals out for a walk and fed them. When they circled behind the building, the beasts attacked without the motive being known so far.

Seeing that the woman was not returning, the employees of the shelter came out to look for her to discover her body lying on the floor. They immediately called the police and paramedics to try to rescue her, since the two dogs were guarding the owner and did not allow anyone to approach her.

When the police arrived at the scene they had to shoot at the pit bulls due to their aggressiveness. Meanwhile, Villafane was taken to Parkland Hospital, where she passed away.

"Friends, we ask for your support and collaboration for the family of Johana Villafane, to cover the expenses of the funeral, crematorium and support for their children in these coming weeks," said the page of Gofundme established to help the family of the victim.. “We need your collaboration, all help !! and remember her as she was, a happy, fun, kind, loving person, a madrassa in love with her children”.

James McClellan, one of the Irving police officers involved in the case, told KLIF-570 News that the dogs' bodies were taken to a center in Austin where they would be rigorously tested to determine if they were suffering from rabies. One of them, the female, was pregnant.

For their part, detectives are trying to establish the reason for the savage attack, since Villafane is said to have visited the dogs daily since they had been taken from his home, fed them and took them for walks.
