In July, the Puerto Rican singer-songwriter Draco Rosa who shortly before beginning his tour The Sacred and the Damned last year cataloged his recovery from cancer as "a second chance", will receive this summer the title of Doctor Honoris Causa in Humanities and Business Administration from the University of the Sacred Heart in Puerto Rico.
"Draco Rosa receives this distinction in recognition of his outstanding international career as an artist, composer, musician, businessman and philanthropist," said Gilberto J. Marxuach Torrós, president of the institution in a press release.
We recognize and celebrate their commitment to Puerto Rico by returning in these times of great challenges for our island to promote initiatives for agricultural, cultural and social development. His vocation of social responsibility is an example for our students and future generations”, he added.
Also, he warned that the former Menudo, fully meets the criteria for the highest recognition granted by this university because it is an example of integrity and moral character that "has served with distinction in initiatives that result in extraordinary benefits to Puerto Rican society and the humanity".
"His artistic work is a valuable contribution to the cultural heritage of humanity," he concluded.
Draco Cornelius Rosa Suárez - his real name - will receive this honorary degree in a ceremony to be held on July 2 at the Puerto Rico Convention Center.
Last year, Rosa highlighted how having to deal with her illness had changed her outlook on life. “Now life is different. The cancer issue gave me a second chance and reordered my priorities, what I like and what I don't ", declared the composer of" Living la Vida Loca ", in an interview he gave the EFE agency at the time.
