One of the largest babies born in Northern California debuted in the world on Friday at Sutter Davis Hospital, west of Sacramento. How much did Baby Valentino weigh at birth? 13 pounds, 11 ounces. Oh, and her heroic mother had a natural birth.

Kelly Corsetti, the mother of the newborn, told The Sacramento Bee newspaper about the state of disbelief in which her husband, Scott Corsetti, was left, when he and his sister approached to see how much Valentino weighed. “I just heard them both laugh and say, 'Wow, it can't be. He can't be that big, '”said Corsetti, who heard from her husband's lips how much the baby weighed. "I was in shock".

Dr. William Gilbert, regional medical director of that hospital's women's services, said Valentino is above 99 percent of the national birthweight cup - and that he was the second-largest newborn he ever had. He had seen in his 30s as a doctor.

Baby Valentino's weight also surprised Corsetti's sister-in-law, Tiffany Allen, who is a primary nurse at the birth center at that same health center. She commented that she is used to seeing babies weigh around 6 to 8.5 pounds at birth, and that her nephew is the largest newborn she has ever seen.

Valentino is Corsetti's third child and although his previous children were also "big" - his first daughter weighed 8 pounds 4 ounces and the second 10 pounds 14 ounces - he never imagined that his third "little" would outnumber them.
