The murder of Felipe Romero, 10, at the hands of his coach Fernando Sierra has shocked Uruguay.

The minor's body was found dead in a town near Montevideo. According to the local police chief, Sierra shot the boy in the temple and then shot himself in the head.

"The adult had his back to the ground and the boy, face down, hugging the man with his head close to his chest," Sergio Mozzo, who was in charge of the autopsy, told BBC Mundo and also stated that the minor had been sexually abused on different occasions. “There was a violation. The marks found on the boy showed an erosion that was possibly the same day or the day before. He had signs of having been repeatedly abused due to the dimensions of the genital part.”

In addition to the evidence of the flight, tranquilizers were found, which according to the Sierra authorities gave them to little Felipe.

The friendship between the boy and the coach began in 2015 when Sierra trained at the Defensor Maldonado Club. He became friends with the family to the degree that the little boy called him Dad.

This friendship was approved by the mother of the little Alexandra Pérez and the father, Luis Romero, a famous ex-footballer.

The turbulence itself began when Felipe went on vacation to Brazil with Sierra.

Upon returning, the mother consulted a psychologist who recommended that she no longer let the little boy live with his coach anymore. Before the panorama, Pérez, spoke with Sierra and prohibited her from seeing her son.

"If I can't see Felipe anymore, I kill myself," Sierra told Pérez. After the altercation, the coach rented a car, picked up the boy at school, and both disappeared until their bodies were found.

According to judge Adriana Morisini, the authorities will continue the investigations until they find out what led Sierra to kill the boy. Interviews will be conducted with the relatives of both parties, the psychologist and the principal of the school.

Until now it is unknown why Felipe's mother decided to call the psychologist.

The coach had no criminal record and the weapon he used was not his.
