Cecilia Alvear Dies

The media is mourning after the loss of one of the most important pioneers in the medium, the Latin Cecilia Alvear.

Originally from Ecuador, in addition to being a great journalist, Cecilia was a leader of the union who helped and supported the careers of the new generations of Latinos who wanted to give their lives to communication.

The also news producer left this Friday at the age of 77, as announced by her longtime partner, George Lewis. The last moments of her life were accompanied by her sisters and her beloved kitten, Gatouche.

She started from below as a production assistant on NBC in Los Angeles, she also held the position of chief of Bureau in Mexico with the same channel. She even became the first woman to become a member of an organization of Hispanic journalists, which would later become the prestigious National Association of Hispanic Journalists, of which Cecilia became president.

Hispanic Business named her one of the 100 Most Influential Hispanics in the United States for her work in supporting and promoting young journalists.

His story began in Ecuador, the country in which he was born. Her family moved to the Galapago Islands where she enjoyed a beautiful childhood surrounded by paradisiacal beaches that made her a very happy girl.

Her desire to experiment led her to the United States and become the prestigious woman and professional she became. 18 years after suffering from breast cancer and a bone marrow transplant, Cecilia says goodbye to life but leaves a legacy worth admiring and an easier path for many Latinos.
