New York Broker Killer Confession

The man accused of killing brokerage Karina Vetrano near his Queens home in August pleaded not guilty Tuesday to the charges of first-degree murder, sexual abuse and eleven more related charges that the prosecution brought against him in the Supreme Court of Queens, New York.

The DNAinfo New York site reported that during the hearing the prosecution presented the confession of 20-year-old Chanel Lewis, where he declared that he was upset that a man in his neighborhood had very loud music, so he went to the park to look for a little bit of quiet. There he saw Vetrano trotting towards him, and "I lost my temper."

"She do not do nothing. I was just freaking out at the time, "Lewis said, according to the confession obtained by the authorities. "I hit her to let out my emotions. I never wanted to hurt him, it just happened."

The defendant also said that he struggled with her for five minutes: “She scratched my face. I hit her about five times and knocked her unconscious. Her teeth broke. I got crazier and crazier and strangled her."

After the attack, Vetrano fell into a pool of water and Lewis continued to strangle her until she stopped moving, according to the man's statement. It was then that he grabbed her wrists and dragged her into the weeds.

Police officers who made that statement said Lewis had asked them: Can I speak to a relative of the victim? I am sorry for what I did.”

Lewis faces four counts of first-degree murder, five counts of second-degree murder, two counts of aggravated sexual abuse in the first degree and two more charges of sexual abuse in the first degree.
