Matthew Herrick is an extremely sought-after man, to his disgrace.

This actor who resides in New York says that in the last five months about 1,100 strangers have knocked on the door of his house or have appeared at the restaurant where he works with the intention of having sex with him.

The problem?

The incessant appearance of suitors, which has turned his life into hell, is not proof of his appeal, but is due to a revenge orchestrated by an ex-boyfriend with the help of the app for gay and bisexual relations Grindr.

That's what Herrick alleges in a lawsuit filed against that popular dating platform in New York state court last January, which has now been elevated to federal court.

According to the complaint, the ex-partner has been creating accounts in the name of Herrick since October last year, with his personal data, in which he accepts encounters with other men in order to have sex. In a single day, the plaintiff claims, he has been presented with up to 16 potential lovers.

In some cases, his initial explanations that it was a mistake did not bear fruit because the person controlling his bogus account had explained that he liked to resist because he wanted to have the "fantasy that he was raped," he argues.

Even according to the New York Post, one of those men broke into his apartment and assaulted his roommate when he threatened to call the police.

CNN contacted the ex-boyfriend, who merely denied that he had created the accounts. In a written statement that he sent to the chain, Grindr assured that his product has technical and human surveillance tools, in addition to encouraging users to report any "suspicious or threatening" activity. At the same time, he recalled that it is an "open" platform.
