The shooting murder in the middle of the radio broadcast of an announcer has shaken public opinion. The crime, which occurred this Tuesday in San Pedro de Macorís, Dominican Republic, has already been condemned as an attack on journalistic expression.
In the terrible attack, perpetrated by a subject, hitherto unidentified, the mentioned announcer, named Luis Medina, and the station director, Luis Martínez, perished.
New local reports have now indicated that the only survivor of the tragedy, Secretary Dayana Isabel García, was seriously injured, but that she is already stable and now it is known that she is expecting a baby.
According to Dominican journalist Joe Díaz, the young woman, who underwent surgery, apparently survived because when she heard the shots, she closed the cabin where she was and went under a desk.
