Dogs Kill 6-year-old Boy

One boy was killed and another seriously injured after being attacked by three dogs while walking to school Tuesday morning in Atlanta.

According to the WSB-TV 2 channel, the attack occurred around 7:30 am, when three little boys were walking to the school bus stop and suddenly three dogs came out and jumped on them.

Logan Braatz, just 6 years old, died from the attack and the second victim, 5-year-old Syria Sanders, is in stable condition at a hospital. A third child also had to be hospitalized.

Shamonte Clayton, a neighbor in the neighborhood, told WXIA that the cries of the children woke her up. "I knew something serious had to be happening because that is the time the children go to school."

A relative of little Syria, Tamiko Williams, told CBS that she ran to the scene immediately. "When I arrived, the dog was biting [the girl] and was not moving or anything."

Williams explained that he and other adults tried to chase the beasts away with sticks and baseball bats, a task that was much more difficult than expected. "The dogs kept chasing us all, there was nothing to do because they kept coming back, they kept coming back," he lamented.

Atlanta police joined efforts to contain the animals and one of them was eventually shot dead by officers. The other two were captured and made available to the authorities.

Little Logan's relatives still can't believe what has happened. "It was a terrible loss," said the boy's grandfather, Bryant Braatz. "[Logan] was very outgoing, he had the kindest spirit you ever knew. I did anything for any other little boy.”
