Marc Anthony Supports Immigrants For Coronavirus

Although the President of the United States, Donald Trump, has assured that Latino immigrants will be able to attend health centers to be tested for coronavirus without fear of being detained by the authorities, Marc Anthony, through his Maestro Cares Foundation and in In collaboration with SOMOS Doctors Partner, it will offer free COVID-19 tests at the latter's clinics located in New York City's Bronx and Queens, at no risk to those without documents.

In addition, starting last week, they are distributing thousands of free meals to the community, particularly Latin. This support will be offered for the duration of the pandemic.

"We really admire the efforts of these organizations," Anthony said in a statement. "I am very proud of this association and we are all here to help the people of New York in whatever way possible."

World Central Kitchen has also joined this initiative and with the support of volunteers they are already offering food in some restaurants in the aforementioned areas such as La Nueva España.

"The COVID-19 pandemic is making life more difficult for all New Yorkers, but the Latino community has been the most affected," said Dr. Ramón Tallaj, founder and president of SOMOS. "SOMOS is partnering with World Central Kitchen and the Maestro Cares Foundation to ensure that families who have lost their jobs or are caring for loved ones who have contracted the virus have little less to worry about in this crisis."

SOMOS also established telemedicine services in three languages so that patients can interact with their doctors and prevent them from taking unjustified risks when leaving their home. Also, they can verify if they require a COVID-19 test.

"We will continue to do everything in our power to ensure that vulnerable communities have the resources they need to stay safe and healthy during this difficult time," Tallaj concluded.
