It seems that it will not be a very real Christmas. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will skip these noted parties at Sandringham alongside Queen Elizabeth and the rest of the family. We will not see them all on the way to church together as it is already ritual in the British royal house.
By contrast, the Dukes of Sussex will jump across the ocean with their little Archie to spend a few endearing days with Meghan's mother. They have made it known through an official statement.
“The duke and duchess hope to start their personal time at the end of the month. Having spent the last two Christmases at Sandringham, their majesties will spend these next holidays as a new family with the Duchess's mother, Doria Ragland, explains the letter from Buckingham Palace.
In addition, and to avoid false rumors, they clarify that it is a decision that has "the support of Her Majesty the Queen," the statement concluded.
It would not be the first time that a member of the famous family spent these days in a different place than usual. Back in 2016 Kate Middleton and her husband Prince William did the same in order to spend quality time with the Duchess of Cambridge's family.
However, recent events that show some weakness in family relationships raise questions about whether the relationship is as good as it seems.
A few days ago Meghan Markle was separated from the queen and Kate during the celebration of Remembrance Day, occupying a balcony independent from theirs. The fractured relationship between Harry and William does not help to believe in that family union that they intend to imply either.
Perhaps this trip to the Americas of the dukes is a way to put land and time in between to clarify positions and let things gradually put themselves in their place.
