If your skin is crying out for extra attention, it is dull, dry and lifeless, give it the care it deserves. We propose a mask very rich in spices created by Jana Blankenship, the founder of the natural cosmetic brand Captain Blankenship and author of the book Wild Beauty in which she shares recipes like this one based exclusively on natural ingredients and with many benefits for your skin. Take note!
Ingredients: 1 tablespoon of white clay or kaolin, which you can get from an herbalist; 1 teaspoon of powdered bamboo activated charcoal, one tablespoon of pure cocoa powder, one teaspoon of turmeric, one quarter teaspoon of ground nutmeg, quarter teaspoon of ground cinnamon, and quarter teaspoon of ground ginger.
"This sumptuous mask [also acts] as a gentle scrub, ideal for winter," he says in the book. "It smells like hot cocoa, soothes the skin and leaves it cleaner but without drying it."
The key to the success of this blend is the cleaning properties of clay and charcoal, which attracts fat particles, and the antioxidant capacity of cocoa.
To complete the mixture you just have to combine all the ingredients detailed at the beginning of this post in a bowl and add water until you get a textured paste to your liking. If you are going to use it as a scrub, you can simply store the powder mixture in a jar and, when you are going to use it, wet your face first and then rub the powders on wet skin with a gentle massage.
Wild Beauty (10 speed press) is available from bookstores and captainblankenship.com
