Before even becoming a fashion entrepreneur, former Miss Guatemala Alida Boer, it was clear that her mission and passion would be to honor the artisans and textile traditions of her country and contribute in some way to improve their lives and contribute their bit. so that these traditions are not lost in the next generations. This is how she created her first line of bags inspired by the typical huipiles of her land, Maria´s Bags.

Thanks to this project, the Guatemalan woman has changed the lives of more than 500 artisan women in her country and is now opening a new stage of ecology and philanthropy that she has wanted to share with us on her last visit to our VIP show.

"Marías highlights the art of Guatemala made by these indigenous women who work in haute couture," she says of her firm's mission.

The former model remembers that during her reign, traveling through her country, they gave her a huipil, a traditional Mayan garment, and when she wore it in the beauty contest, the women went crazy. “[I thought] there was an opportunity, but I didn't know what. So I thought about bags, but I had no fashion experience or knew how to use a machine or anything, "he recalls.

From the two artisans with whom he started to the more than 500 women who today work directly in his factory in Guatemala or providing sewing and crafts services to the process, these bags have changed their lives and contribute to their talent and art reaching for example, an executive on the streets of New York.

Heroes of corn is his new ecological project with which he is also contributing to caring for the environment in Guatemala through “cleaner”, picking up trash in groups, giving talks in schools about the environment and trying to raise awareness to stop using plastic from single use.

As if this were not enough, the former model tells the video all the details of her collaboration with the City Harvest organization that rescues food in perfect conditions from places such as restaurants, hotels or farmers markets every day and distributes them to those most in need. Do not miss it and see on its website how you can help the cause.
