The kings of Spain have held a gala dinner this week at the Royal Palace in Madrid to receive Chinese President Xi Jinping and his wife, Peng Liyuan. For this occasion Queen Letizia has chosen a black velvet dress, long sleeves and closed neck that she had already worn on another occasion, almost a year ago when she received with the King Felipe VI the President of Argentina, Mauricio Macri, and his wife Juliana Awada.

The dress is the creation of her favorite designer and the one she has most repeated in her 14 years at the Spanish royal house, Felipe Varela.

Another of the details of her look that the queen has “recycled” on more than one occasion are Cartier's impressive twin bracelets that, according to the Spanish newspaper ABC, belonged to Queen Victoria Eugenia, her husband's great-grandmother. The diamond bracelets were made from the crown that King Alfonso XIII gave to his wife on the occasion of their wedding.

However, the detail that he chose for this gala dinner that he had never worn before is the impressive tiara, known as the "Russian tiara". A unique platinum, pearl and diamond jewel that was created for Queen Maria Cristina of Austria and has been passed down from generation to generation.

The queen decided to finish off her look with a fleur-de-lis brooch, which is the emblem of the Bourbon family.
