The Kate Spade brand spring 2018 collection is faithful to the feminine and fun style for which the brand is known. The presentation took place in the restaurant "The Oyster Bar" in the famous Grand Central Station in New York, which they decorated with palms to give a summery air to the environment and thus complement the collection.
Inspired by New Orleans, a city known for jazz, the clothing stood out as always for being extremely colorful, full of fun and feminine prints but with the hallmark of youthful sophistication for which the brand is known so much. With floral prints, 3D-embellished butterfly shoes and flirty bags with animal designs like crocodiles, the brand's spring collection transports you to the southern United States and makes you dream of the sun and the rhythm of its music.
The makeup, done by Romy Soleimani for MAC Cosmetics, was inspired by the humidity of New Orleans. "It is a very fresh and even sporty look," explained the makeup artist. First, she prepared the models' skin with Essential Oils oil to hydrate it and give it a youthful glow. Then she used the Face + Body Foundation and a little concealer to correct blemishes. To color her cheeks, the expert mixed shades of fuchsia and red from the Lip Mix to create a cream blush. To finish the look, she brushed her eyebrows up to make them look fuller and thicker.
The pageant hairstyles were also super feminine. Made by Bob Recine for TRESemmé, the looks were simple so as not to take the limelight off the clothes. The expert created high tails on the long-haired models and the rest wore all different looks that suited their own hair textures. The most unique hairstyle on the catwalk consisted of a collected mane adorned with pieces of transparent plastic that looked like sculptures and, by far, crowns.
The nails followed the pattern of fun, youthful elegance done to the hair and makeup, and were inspired by the flora and fauna of the French Quarter in New Orleans. The famous manicurist Deborah LippmannShe used two varnishes from her eponymous brand and fake pearls to create a look that she describes as "a look that projects personal style and fun sophistication." To achieve this, she used the pale pink "Shape Of My Heart" throughout the nail and with the black "Fade To Black" created special details such as a French manicure with black tips or a fine line in the middle of the nail. Some lucky women had to use a pearl on their nails as a feminine accent. "The Kate Spade woman is free-spirited and elegant, so she has fun [with it]," Lippmann explained of the look he gave a sophisticated twist.
