Christian Louboutin went to Mexico to work with artisans to design a unique bag that celebrates the culture and colors of the Aztec land. The portfolio, ideal for any weekend getaway, was baptized with the name of Mexicaba and was created in collaboration with the Taller Maya, where artisans from the Yucatan Peninsula work who help preserve the unique style of the fabrics.
"You just have to visit my house and you will see all the things that [I have brought] through the years, to know that I really love the diversity of Mexican designs," Louboutin said in a statement. "The culture is so rich. I love the fabrics, the colors, the motifs of wild animals that are a bit native and the images of death, which is taken in such a natural way.”

It was the same designer who supervised with the artisans every detail of the luxurious bag. He even posted tender images to his social networks with the Mexican women who worked to make this piece something unique and spectacular.
In the bag Mexican fabrics, touches of wood reign, as well as the colors that predominate in the artisan pieces of that country. The bags also have rhinestones applied by artists from India and received their finishing touch at the brand's workshop in Paris.
The best of all? 10% of each bag will directly benefit the artisans of the Maya Workshop.
In 2016, the artist designed the Africaba bag, made by women from Dakar, Senegal, a country located in the west of the African continent.
"What if I like Mexicaba more than Africaba? I don't know," Louboutin explained. “I love the lining of the new wallet, the Day of the Dead motifs turned into happy ghosts who take care of your things. But more than anything, I like what it represents. The satisfaction that it benefits artists in Yukatán, Dakar and Paris, [and] everyone who worked on its creation.”
