There is no denying the great legacy left by Dominican designer Oscar de la Renta, whose fashion house just unveiled his new collection during New York Fashion Week. The late artist was not only one of the most important worldwide, but also a favorite among the famous and more than a first lady.

Without going any further, Jacqueline Kennedy, Hillary Clinton and Nancy Reagan wore their designs.

For his successful career, the United States Postal Service has dedicated a collection of commemorative stamps to him, available now at any post office or at Usps.com.

The collection includes eleven stamps, ten with the iconic prints he used in his designs, and one more with his portrait.

To celebrate such an important event, the fashion house held a ceremony in Grand Central, the emblematic New York train terminal, in which the press and personalities gathered.

Among those present were former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton; one of the artist's closest friends, the editor in chief of Vogue magazine Anna Wintour; former Mayor of New York Michael R. Bloomberg; and the journalist Anderson Cooper, who served as master of ceremony.

The event served to celebrate and underline the enormous legacy and human quality of the late designer.

"Oscar de la Renta was an immigrant and we are very proud and happy that he was," said Clinton of one of his favorite designers and whom he considered his friend. "Hopefully there are many more immigrants with that love for the United States that Oscar de la Renta represented every day."

The designer, who created an empire and whose brand remains one of the most prestigious in the world, died in late 2014 at the age of 82 after a long fight against cancer.
