To create the looks for Telenovela (NBC), Eva Longoria's new show, costume designer Janie Bryant, was inspired by Jennifer López, Ricky Martin, Marc Anthony and Enrique Iglesias.
Aside from devoting himself to watching many novels, Bryant also steeped himself in Latino culture.
“For Ana Sofía (Longoria's character in the series) I was inspired by Jennifer López. I also started looking at magazines in Spain and Mexico to get a better idea of the culture,”said the stylist, who was also in charge of creating the looks for the famous Mad Men series. “It is very important that the authenticity of each character is felt. [Ana Sofía] really has a chic style, modern elegance, sexuality and sensuality. In some episodes Eva has 14 or 16 changes. It's fantastic".
And he added, “I watched many soap operas. I was also looking at [the looks] of Ricky Martin, Marc Anthony and Enrique Iglesias to look for inspiration for the character of Xavi [played by Jencarlos Canela)”.
