Ecuadorian designer Gabriela Cadena triumphed on Thursday in her first presentation at New York Fashion Week.
“It is super exciting. Until a little while ago I kept thinking 'pinch me' because I still don't think so. It's a dream come true,”Cadena confessed to People en Español minutes before the show began.

Among her proposals for this fall / winter we find long and dramatic dresses with elaborate details, transparencies and rhinestones that are inspired by Asian culture.
“I was trying to mix two totally opposite elements: the structure versus the organic. We are inspired by the Himalayas, we grasp the structure of the ice when it is breaking. The organic part of the collection is the cherry blossom, which is super-traditional in oriental culture, said the designer.
In order not to compete with the grandeur of the Cadena pieces, Tomo Jidai, creator of the parade's hairstyles with Oribe, opted for a simple style. "I wanted something minimal inspired by the late 1990s," said Jidai. "We have respected the natural streak of the models and we have straightened their hair, but not a rigid, but smooth straightening."

For his part, Sergio Erasmo for MAC Cosmetics was in charge of creating a very subtle makeup. "She is a woman who goes to an event and at the last moment she realizes that she has done a lot of makeup on her eyes and removes makeup with her fingers leaving a natural taupe tone but not completely naked," said the Argentine makeup artist.
“It is about highlighting the characteristics of the faces of the models: concealer only where necessary, combing the eyebrows but filling them only if necessary. It's more about how the woman feels with those clothes, that makeup… it's telling her story.”
