Four years after heading the melodrama Tierra de Reyes (2015), Gonzalo García Vivanco recently returned to Spanish-language television as the protagonist of the new version of the successful soap opera Cuna de lobos, a story that Univision broadcasts from Monday to Friday at 9 pm Eastern time, with Paz Vega in the shoes of the Machiavellian Catalina Creel. In an exclusive interview with People en Español the 37-year-old Mexican actor talks about his participation in this story and reveals some interesting details about his life that will allow us to know more about the person behind the artist. And attention because Vivanco also confesses that his heart already has an owner.

What attracted you most at the beginning of participating in Cuna de lobos?

The story first, then work with Giselle González [producer] and the character third.

Have you seen any of the original story?

Yes, when I was a boy I remember some images watching Catalina Creel kill a police officer when he pushed him into a pool, threw an electric mower and was electrocuted.

What was the most complex for you when giving life to José Carlos?

The most complex thing for me was to get a little into psychology. José Carlos is a good man who fell into drugs, not because of being bad but because of all the problems and all the suffering he had had in his childhood and the root that was Catalina Creel, how he distanced him from his family, his father and he was almost exiled from his family whose escape was excesses: drugs, alcohol, gambling …

If you had to find a similarity between José Carlos and yourself, what would it be?

The royalty.

What did it mean for you to have Paz Vega as a mother in fiction?

For me it was impressive because she is an actress that I admire a lot. It was a great experience. She is a dedicated, professional, respectful woman, kind to everyone despite being a star. It was a total joy to work with her. I enjoyed every moment on and off the stage.

How do you remember today your beginnings as an actor?

As an immature young man who was just getting to know this beautiful career and entering a world that I loved, in this world of imagination and play.

What character or project do you love the most and why?

I am very fond of all my characters because each one has led me to be what I am in my career, each one has taught me a lot. It's like asking a dad what his favorite son is. It's complicated. Each character has its charm and complexity.

How is Gonzalo García Vivanco defined?

I define myself as a person in constant change and looking to learn more, to improve myself. I am a romantic, family person and lover of travel and exploration.

What are you passionate about doing in your free time?

Reading, watching movies, spending time with my friends and family or traveling, just whenever I can.

What would a perfect day be like for you?

A perfect day for me would be to leave my house, with my suitcase and go to the airport with a new destination to know.

We see you boast great body in networks, how much does Gonzalo García Vivanco take care of himself?

I do not like showing off so much, they are just good photos, the last ones have been like magazine covers that I have taken but yes, I do take care of myself. I am a person who likes to eat healthy. It is not that I do it for having a good body but because I like the benefits of eating healthy. I am an exercise lover so it is a lifestyle for me already.

How is your heart in these moments?

With girlfriend, happy and in love.

Are you at your 37 years where you imagined yourself to be?

When I was a child, between 12 and 15 years old, I thought that 37 was being an old man, already with a family, married; then my twenty-something 37 did not see them so bad, but also felt like an older man. At 37 now I feel better than at 30, with a maturity that I enjoy every moment, with a lot of energy, with many dreams and with a whole life ahead of me.

When the lights go out and you return to your normal, everyday life, what makes you happy?

It makes me happy my home, my house, my cat, my music, reading or it also makes me happy the other option that is to be packing to go on a trip.

Finally, what would that be that very few people know about you?

Very few people knew about me that I am now in a relationship or that I had the habit of biting my nails.
