Selena Gomez is adding another show to her television resume, but this time as an executive producer. Deadline reports that the pop star is teaming up with Aaron Kaplan and Freeform, originally known as ABC Family, for the untitled drama.
The show is described as a Latina Empire inspired by Los Angles high school senior Ana Cobarrubias. Cobarrubias will be a consultant on the upcoming project.
Kaplan discovered the high school student's story while attending The Zimmer Children's Museum Discover Award Dinner. Cobarrubias, who aspires to work in the cinema, had received a standing ovation for her speech about making change happen and defying the expectations for someone like her.
The series will focus on an 18-year-old girl, “destined for greatness,” living in a low income Latino neighborhood. There are no plans for Gomez to act in the show but the project is in the search of a writer.
