On April 22, we celebrate Earth Day, but caring for our planet should be a daily practice. These four Latinx projects celebrate nature's gifts and help protect our precious environment.

1. Sachamama is a nonprofit organization led by TV host Vanessa Hauc, whose mission is to “build support for a 100 percent clean energy economy for all and sustainable attitudes, behaviors and lifestyles within Latinx communities.” The Quechua word sachamama means “mother jungle” and the organization's work “is based on the principles of sumak-kawsay (“good living”), part of the cosmovision of the Quecha people, which promotes harmony among people and nature.” Sachamama, supported by celebrities such as Carlos Ponce and Aaron Díaz, helps create awareness about climate change and the importance of protecting the environment through daily actions like recycling. The group also strives to increase media coverage of environmental issues. For more info, visit Sachamama.org.

The Mexican-American singer also has her own eco-friendly clothing line Dream Out Loud by Selena Gómez. “I want the pieces that can be easy to dress up or down, and the fabrics being eco-friendly and organic are super important,” she said of her line, which includes pieces that mirror her own style and are “pretty, feminine and bohemian.”
