Gina Rodriguez Talks About Her New Movie

Gina Rodríguez gave details of her leading role in the new action-drama film, Miss Bala.

Rodríguez, the great star of the television series Jane the Virgen, explained that her Gloria character was adapted to the new current reality.

The Latin actress, who has managed to earn a place in Hollywood, indicates that Gloria is "a woman who uses every aspect of her person to survive."

An interesting fact that Rodríguez highlights is that the film was filmed in Tijuana, a border city between the United States and Mexico. “This woman was actively going to save herself and her family, and not wait for a man to save her. There were a lot of things I was a fan of [on the tape],”he said in terms of the dynamics of the story.

However, the Golden Globe Award-winning artist added that this film is about the trip of Gloria, a makeup artist from Los Angeles who returns to Mexico. Rodríguez indicates that Gloria had lived in Mexico for a time, but she is a woman who moves to different places, due to decisions made by her parents. A woman who is Latino, but also American.

“She [Gloria] struggles with that duality of being Latino and American. Not Latin enough. Not American enough. On that journey in which she leaves, which ends up being extremely dangerous, she eventually discovers her power,”she explains. Rodríguez affirms that Gloria draws on that personal power that she discovers through history in order to save her family.
