To celebrate Hispanic culture in the US, Disney On Broadway stars Enrique Segura, Nina Lafarga, Julius Anthony Rubio, Kathryn Allison, Lauryn Ciardullo and Gaby Gamache spoke with PEOPLE CHICA about their experiences working on the theater's biggest stages.
The actors, all of Hispanic descent, also offered advice about getting into the business.
Segura, who stars on Broadway's The Lion King, says he loves how his community supports itself, especially behind the scenes. "In your life, many things happen: kids are born, parents die and life goes on," says Segura (above). "Disney has been amazing to me and they support you in family situations."
Others shared that being in the theater business was a childhood dream - and fulfilling it every night on a Broadway stage is deeply meaningful.
Ciardullo, one of stars of Aladdin who has been part of the Broadway production for five years, says she enjoys seeing kids' reaction as they watch the show. She also offers advice to aspiring actresses who want to make it on Broadway.
“I teach a lot and I always tell my students: 'Working hard and determination is really all that it takes,'” shares Ciardullo (in red, below). "You just have to believe in yourself and the harder you work, the easier your goals come to you."
Each Disney show currently on Broadway - The Lion King, Frozen and Aladdin - will continue to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month by sharing these and other images taken by photographer Ciro Gutierrez, as well as behind behind-the-scenes videos, until mid-October.
