Within each woman's beauty routine, it is important to include a facial at least every three to six months, depending on the skin and its needs. Therefore, there are many who undergo a facial, most with excellent results. And we say the majority because many times women experience redness, allergies, some type of irritation and their skin is even stained, which makes the facial not a very pleasant experience as it happened to a beauty editor. In order to get the best-performing facial and prevent the skin from experiencing unpleasant episodes, it is good to take into account some right after receiving such treatment.

We spoke with Josh Ross, from the SkinLab spa in Hollywood and who is in charge of keeping the skin of various celebrities in optimal conditions, to tell us what we should do after having a facial. See below his important recommendations.

Change the pillow cover: With the exfoliation process, the skin is more exposed to bacteria and more receptive. So changing the pillow cover is very important to make sure that nothing that is left behind will stick to you. If you get a treatment like a peel or laser, a dirty pillow cover could even cause an infection.

Avoid going to the gym or sweating: During a facial your skin becomes a little swollen, so avoid exercising for at least 24 or 48 hours after doing it because this way you prevent the inflammation from returning through sweat. Doing Pilates or yoga that isn't hot does work.

Avoid hot water, the sauna, the pool and any other place prone to bacteria: Obviously in the sauna you are going to sweat, avoid it. Pools contain chlorine and can irritate your skin.

Your beauty routine should be basic: Between the first three to five days after the facial, maintain a basic routine, using fragrance-free and clean products. Using a cleanser, toner, moisturizer, and sunscreen is enough. If you put products with active ingredients, it could cause acne.
