Ian David Long, 28, has been identified as the suspect in the mass shooting at a California nightclub early Thursday morning, the Washington Post reports, citing investigative officials.

Long is a former Navy soldier who lived near Newbury Park, who lived at home with his mother, according to authorities' investigation with area neighbors.

A neighbor who knew Long said he was a veteran with Post Traumatic Disorder (PTSD). "I don't know what I was doing with a gun," reports ABC News.

He was dressed in a black raincoat and fired at least 30 shots from a.45 caliber pistol, which was legally purchased.

Ian David Long committed suicide after killing 11 people inside the bar and Sergeant Ron Helus, the first officer to respond to the scene, who was shot and later died in hospital.

When the SWAT teams arrived, the suspect was dead. His body was found in an office inside the bar.

At least a dozen people were killed. None of the other victims has been identified.

The suspect had no older record, rather than a traffic sanction.
