In the midst of the polarization that the country is going through, there are still indications that all is not lost. This is demonstrated by the message that a waitress at the restaurant in Washington, DC, recently received, with a generous tip from a group that he did not expect much of.
Rosalynd Harris, who is African American, received a tip from white nals at the restaurant where she works, Busboys and Poets.
The clients, who had come from Texas to the federal capital to attend the inauguration of Donald Trump, excited her with the message that accompanied the tip, which reminds other cases of surprising encounters in restaurants.
“We may come from different cultures and disagree on certain issues, but if everyone shared their smile and kindness as their beautiful smile, our country would unite into one people. Neither race nor gender. American only. God bless you!”, Reads the notation they left on the receipt.
The young woman, who had participated in the march against Trump on January 21, told the Washington Post that she has learned a good lesson.
"You automatically assume that if someone supports Trump it is because they have these (racist) ideas about you (…) but [the client was] friendlier and there was even sincerity in our conversation," he observed.
