It is curious but even in new mothers the maternal instinct arises in the most unexpected way. And in the case of Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, this is no exception.
Although the 37-year-old actress has only been pregnant for a couple of months and will not give birth until April, almost since she revealed that she was expecting a son from Prince Harry, she has shown extreme caution with what will be her first baby. These include changing high-heeled shoes for flat shoes and reducing your work schedule.
What also stands out - and that the paparazzi have not stopped capturing - is an almost automatic gesture that Meghan constantly makes and that is to maternally protect her tummy from pregnancy by placing both hands on her increasingly bulging belly.
This gesture was repeated over and over again this Monday during the Dukes' attendance at the Royal Variety Performance that took place at the London Palladium Theater. The charity event raises funds for low-income people and this year had a special performance by the musical Hamilton, by the great Lin-Manuel Miranda.

It was only weeks ago that the couple revealed their sweet wait. The announcement was made on October 15 through Kensington Palace's official Twitter account.
There it was said that the heir to Prince Harry and great-grandson of Queen Elizabeth II will be born in the spring.
The baby is the couple's first child and eighth great-grandchild for Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh and will rank seventh in the line of succession to the British throne, provided Kate Middleton and Prince William have no more children.
According to specialists, it is estimated that the baby will be born during the first five or six days of April.
