Costco members are used to leaving with carts full of food, toys, and various merchandise that they only find on the shelves of its more than 785 stores worldwide.

However, from now on and until further notice, its partners must observe a series of rules specially designed to abide by the rules of social distancing due to the coronavirus pandemic and protect both themselves and warehouse employees.

The rules take effect this Friday, April 3 and will also serve to regulate the shocking influx of buyers who have crowded the aisles of their volume sales warehouses in the face of quarantine imposed in multiple states.

From that date, those who wish to buy at Costco may only bring one companion. In other words, they cannot come with children or other people. In this way, the "social distancing effort" can be achieved, it was said on the company's website, where it is also reported that the change is temporary.

Queues outside Costco warehouses at their locations have left many jaw-dropping:

"As many of you may have noticed, we have experienced an increase in our sales right now," said the warehouse's official website. "As a result of this we have taken steps to control the number of members in our wineries and we ask our members and employees to practice social distancing."

"We have stepped up our cleaning protocols for surfaces, including shopping cart handles, shelves, cash registers and cash registers," said the letter, also signed by Craig Jelinek, CEO of Costco. "As new information arrives our warehouse management will keep staff well informed so they can respond quickly and appropriately [to demand."

But that is not all. Costco has also reduced some services. "We have imposed limits on [the sale] of certain items to help make sure that our members have access to the merchandise they want and need," he says. "Our buyers and suppliers are working to ensure we meet demand and that all of their favorite products are available in our warehouses."
