This is why this season will be very different.

New York Fashion Week starting this Thursday will be a little different this year. And it is that due to all the sexual harassment scandals that arose in late 2017, some movements have emerged to give support to those affected. One of those movements is Time's Up, created by actresses such as Reese Witherspoon and Eva Longoria, who seek to raise funds for victims of abuse and with which they hope to raise awareness about this problem that affects many women both in the film industry and in other areas. Some models have also identified with the allegations and have expressed their disagreement with having to deal with unprofessional behavior within the industry. So this year measures will be taken so that the girls do not feel as vulnerable as they prepare to go out on the catwalk.

Normally the backstage of a show is full of stylists, makeup artists and also many photographers who seek to document everything that happens behind the scenes. It is this lack of privacy that has led the models to complain and that is why the Council of Fashion Designers of the United States has decided to join the Model Alliance group to create more private spaces where young women can dress.

"The models have complained about the lack of privacy and how invasive photographers tend to be in the backstage of New York Fashion Week," Sara Ziff, founder of the alliance, said in a statement. "We have decided to take other steps this season to ensure a safer and more respectful workplace by providing private locker rooms."
