Nerves, excitement and much anticipation last night at the 91st Academy Awards ceremony in which all eyes were on Yalitza Aparicio, the first indigenous woman nominated for best actress in the history of these awards.

Although she did not finally take the statue home, we loved the look she chose for her first oscars and the natural but sophisticated makeup with which she was super favored. We spoke exclusively with her makeup artist Carissa Ferreri who gave us all the details and 100 percent clean and natural products of the Arbonne brand that she used last night on the skin of the most famous Mexican of the moment.

What was your inspiration to create the look that Yalitza wore on the most important red carpet of the year?

For this look I was inspired by spring. Her dress was a gorgeous mint color and she wanted to do something cool and smooth with apricot and peach tones.

You've been working with her for a few months now. Yalitza dares to try new things and lets herself be advised or is she clear on what she wants?

The more I have worked with it, the more I have dared to experiment with different colors, textures and styles. As her confidence increases, so does mine as a makeup artist, and I feel like she trusts my instinct.

How did you prepare the actress's skin for her big night?

I spend a lot of time preparing the skin before starting to apply makeup, it is essential to get a clean and soft canvas to achieve a good beauty look. Yesterday we started with a mini facial using Arbonne's RE9 Advanced Smoothing Facial Cleanser and mixing it with RE9 Advanced Prepwork Cleansing Polish to exfoliate well and leave skin feeling fresh and luminous. Then I applied RE9 Advanced Regenerating Toner to refresh the skin and give it even more light. I love it because it comes in a spray format as a light mist that I apply to my sponge and then to her face. Then I followed with the RE9 Advanced Intensive Renewal serum and the RE9 Advanced Prepwork Hydrating Dew Cream to hydrate. The last step before makeup was the RE9 Advanced Prepwork Gel Eye Masks on the eyes to soften and give a touch of freshness to the area under the lower eyelid.

And what about color?

After preparing the skin I always start with the eyebrows and eyes to give the products more time to penetrate the skin. Also, I leave the gel masks in the eyes while I make the eyebrows to act. I love bushy, well-sculpted brows and to achieve that effect I used the Shape It Up Brow Pencil in Dark and added and the Eyebrow Gel to give the brows more life.

What colors did you use on the eyelids?

In the eyes, I wanted to get a very spring and very fresh look, almost monochromatic, so that everything would flow. I used the It's All In The Eyes Volume 1 Palette eyeshadow palette specifically the Carroway and Clove shades on the bone under the brow and on the eyelid I used the Opal and Prism eyeshadow from the It's All In The Eyes Volume 2 Palette palette. With this combination I got exactly the peach color I was looking for. To finish off the eyes, I applied a touch of the It's A Fine Line Pencil Eye Liner in Carob color only on the lower lash line, leaving the upper one natural.

The rouge also looked very springy, what shade is it?

In the cheeks I applied blush in the Blossom and Apricot tones to get that warm glow and then the Glow On Bronzer around the perimeter of his face and forehead to add dimension. I also put a touch of the bronzer on the cheekbones and on her shoulders because it gives a very nice shine.
