The media in Puerto Rico have mourned for the tragic death of Sara Arroyo, a young television producer who died drowned this Sunday after being swept away by the current in Isla Verde.
The Carolina municipality police press office confirmed that the events occurred around 4:17 pm local time, near the Isla Verde condominium The Galaxy. The 48-year-old woman was said to have been swept away by the current.
Rescue teams and paramedics came to the scene and tried to revive her, "but the person did not resuscitate," police reported.
María del Carmen Arroyo Rodríguez, sister of the deceased and who was at her side when the events occurred, was the one who identified the body without life.
The president of the board of directors of the Association of Journalists of Puerto Rico, Damaris Suárez, publicized in a tweet her regret for the "premature death" of Arroyo.
"Sarita, as we affectionately called her, was a professional of high caliber, committed to her work and always raising the standards of her profession," said representatives of ABC Puerto Rico through their Facebook page.
"We regret his unexpected departure and we stand in solidarity with the pain that afflicts his family, friends and close friends. We lost a great professional, partner and better person. We'll miss you. Fly high Sarita!”They added.
Arroyo graduated from the School of Communications at the University of Puerto Rico. She currently worked as a general producer for Telecinco Inc. (ABC-5 Puerto Rico) and worked in shows like Puertorriqueñísimo and ¡Qué Noche!
