American Football Player Confesses He Killed Pregnant Cheerleader For Him

The body of a 17-year-old American cheerleader was found in a dumpster. A 16-year-old football player who attended his own high school confessed to being the father of the baby he was expecting and killing her because it was too late for her to have an abortion.

Breana Rouhselang, 17, was six months pregnant and was found dead on Sunday. The last time she was seen alive was the night before at her Mishawaka home, but she left around 11 p.m. to speak to the father of her unborn child and never returned, says an affidavit from the detainee obtained by PEOPLE.

When police searched the surroundings of Breana's home, they found her eyeglasses, a bloody stocking cap, and other traces of blood. This led them to discover Breana's corpse in a garbage dump in that area, according to official documents.

When authorities questioned the father of her unborn baby, Aaron Trejo, 16, a football player from Mishawaka High School where Breana was a cheerleader. At first, Trejo told authorities that Breana had not come to her appointment, but later confessed that they had fought over her pregnancy and that he had stabbed her in the heart with a knife he brought from home, his affidavit says.

This document adds that according to Trejo Breana had told her too late that she was pregnant so she could no longer abort. "I took action, I took his life," he told police. Later she allegedly confessed to the police that she had considered killing Breana for a week and that she had thrown the young pregnant woman's cell phone and knife into a river.

Trejo now faces murder and feticide charges. Breana's stepmother expressed in a GoFundMe account created by the family to help with her funeral expenses: “This is such a difficult tragedy to accept. This loving young lady was full of life and did not deserve this. Please keep this family in your prayers. No one is prepared for such a loss. It is not yet known if Trejo has a lawyer. The case is still ongoing.
