The apparently racist actions of a white woman against her black neighbor have cost her dearly: the woman was videotaped and has now lost her job because of her actions.

The events were triggered when D'Arreion Toles posted a video on his Facebook account denouncing his neighbor after the meeting they had in the hallways of his luxury building, located in St Louis, Missouri.

The clip shows the woman, identified as Hilary Brooke Mueller, blocking the way for the man who says "Madam, please let me pass." She tells him that this is "his building" and asks him what apartment he lives in. In an irritated voice the man replies that he does not need to give him that information and from there continues an increasingly tense exchange of words. The man decides to put it aside and pass while the woman claims him.

The video was shot on Friday night and has since accumulated more than 1.6 million views.

Approximately 30 minutes after the man managed to enter his apartment, a police officer knocked on his door and told him that his neighbor was "uncomfortable" with his presence in the building.

Ironically, when the video went viral it reached the ears of the company that employed the woman and has now decided to fire her.

"The Tribeca STL family is a minority-owned company consisting of employees and residents of various racial backgrounds," company spokespeople said in remarks reproduced by The New York Times. "We are proud of this and will never endorse racism or racial distinctions in our company."
