Despite leading a healthy and exercising life, Jeremy Westerman, a Texas coach has passed away from the flu. It happened last month leaving the world in shock. The life of this 27-year-old was based on exercise without ever having suffered from any other disease.

But a few weeks ago, she began to feel bad and have the typical symptoms of the flu. He woke up with fever and congestion, however, as is very common in many people, he did not want to go to the doctor. "He thought that he could overcome it with medicine at home and thus cure it," explains his mother Dianna Westerman to PEOPLE magazine. "His roommate thought he was sleeping but was actually deceased."

According to Fox 4, the autopsy revealed that it was a type A flu. "As a parent this is a huge shock," his father Marty Westerman told CBS Dallas-Fortworth television. "We did not expect it at all," continues devastated. "He was a special boy and loved by many people," added his mother.

The Center for Disease Control estimates that around 14 thousand Americans were hospitalized by the influenza virus last October, an epidemic that already broke out in 2009 and that does not look like it will improve in the near future. That is why the center recommends that every year citizens put on the flu vaccine in order to reduce the risks of suffering it.

In the case of not escaping it, it is recommended that you stay hydrated and, above all, rest without making any kind of physical effort. Something that the deceased could not do. Young Westerman was a graduate of the University of Texas in Business before becoming the manager of a fitness center.

But even his good and healthy lifestyle habits could not prevent his death. Our condolences to his family and loved ones.
