Good news for the baldies who love McDonald's food! Scientists in Japan say that a substance present in the French fries of the popular fast food chain could help fight baldness.

According to a report published by Science Direct, a group of seven scientists from Yokohama National University, led by Professor Junji Fukuda, regenerated the hair of mice in areas where no hair was present.

To accomplish their goal, scholars used dimethylpolysiloxane, a chemical contained in McDonald's potato chips and used so that cooking oil does not foam.

In their studies, scientists used the chemical to form an oxygen permeable solution and generate 5,000 hair follicle germs. "These follicle germs were able to create hair follicles and allow subcutaneous transplantation into the backs of the mice," part of the report explained.

According to Professor Fukuda, the chemical existing in the popular French fries allows "a good circulation of oxygen" and thanks to this they managed to generate hair growth in rodents.

Obviously there will be many more studies to be done before the technique can be used in humans, however, McDonald's lovers should be excited to know that the aforementioned chemical is also present in Chicken McNuggets and fish fillet sandwiches.
