The health authorities of the United States recently reported the death due to a strange cancer of nine women who had breast implants.
Cancer called anaplastic large cell lymphoma (ALCL) forms around the breast implant and attacks cells of the immune system.
"All the information to date suggests that women with breast implants have a very low, but increased, risk of contracting ALCL compared to women without breast implants," revealed the United States Food and Drug Administration. (FDA).
The federal agency advised women considering breast implants to talk to their surgeons about the benefits and drawbacks of choosing implants with a smooth or textured surface.
As they note, most of the cases occurred in patients who had implants with textured surfaces.
She also advises women with breast implants to see their doctor if they notice symptoms such as fluid buildup, a lump, or hardened skin around the implants. So far, most cases of ALCL show that this disease has a slow development and is treatable if discovered early.
