A few days after Netflix announced that it will bring the story of the Chapeoense plane crash to the screen, in Medellín a witty businessman chose to pay tribute to them by opening a cafe-bar with his name.

The business is located near the Atanasio Girardot stadium, where the soccer team was going to play the Copa Sudamericana final against Atlético Nacional. It is called precisely like the team, Chapecoense and, according to its owner, Juan David Pemberty, reported to the AFP news agency, it was born from the idea of “paying tribute to all the Chape players, sadly killed in a tragedy in the Medellin city.

We recall that the so-called Chapecoense tragedy was a plane crash in Colombia that, in November of last year, left 71 dead, including a large part of the squad of players from that Brazilian soccer team. There were only six survivors.

In his small Medellin business, Pemberty put up a mural with the faces and names of all the players on that team, while employees wear team-emblem shirts.

The decoration of the premises includes images of the fans and club facilities, as well as a replica of the cabin of the plane in which they were traveling. And on their menu there is a cocktail called 'Chape', which is intense green, like everything that identifies that team.

Pemberty clarifies that he received the necessary authorization from the Chapecoense directives, who also expressed their gratitude for that small tribute.
