Emma Moreno celebrated last Tuesday nothing more and nothing less than 117 years of life. The woman born in the 1880s is considered the oldest in the world.

Originally from the Italian island of Sardinia, Moreno blew the candles on her birthday cake at her modest home in Pallanza accompanied by family, photographers and journalists. "I am happy to be 117 years old," said Emma during the evening.

In addition to receiving countless congratulations, Emma also received birthday cards from some high school students. The President of the Italian Republic, Sergio Mattarella, wished him a lot of "serenity and good health," reported The New York Times.
