Gloria and Emilio Estefan have always shown their humanitarian side at times of need, so during this health crisis that has affected the economy of thousands of people around the country they return to lend a hand.
The famous couple announced Wednesday that they have partnered with CVS Health pharmacy chain to support hundreds of workers at their Estefan Enterprises job with immediate employment.
After seeing that the chain was looking for associates, Emilio contacted CVS to accommodate around 300 of his employees at his restaurants and hotels in Florida who have lost their jobs.
“We have all been faced with making very difficult and unfathomable decisions as we move through this crisis. Gloria and I are doing everything we can to find opportunities for our employees and we are very grateful to CVS Health for partnering with our companies,”wrote the renowned producer on his social media.
The pharmacy chain had announced Monday that it needed to hire around 50,000 across the country for different temporary, part-time and full-time positions, in order to respond to the demand for services in its different stores during this pandemic.
Emilio approached in an attempt to help his unemployed employees.
“[I am] very concerned and thinking a lot about all the people. I believe that in these difficult moments one learns that we are all human beings, no matter where you come from, what color, where you are from, what politics you want to belong to,”Emilio said in an interview with Despierta América (Univision).
“I think we have to be creative right now, how can we help the people who need to work the most and keep fighting? For me, my life, since I was a child, I had to present many difficult moments being an immigrant and turning everything negative into positive has been my key to be able to keep going”, he added.
Emilio recognized the work not only of CVS, but of all the employees who have helped build his empire, for which he assured that after the crisis they could return to work with his company if they so desired.
"[We want] them to know how much we appreciate what they have done and that everything in our hands [to] help them, we are going to do it," he said. "We have to keep fighting".
