For approximately two years, his name has continued to grab headlines in the main entertainment media. Many have attributed her the role of 'the bad story' due to her famous courtship with Gabriel Soto, ex-husband of Geraldine Bazán, a romance that has placed her at the center of all criticism and has led to her being bullied through social networks, as she herself has publicly denounced on several occasions. But very few know who Irina Baeva really is and the inspiring story of self-improvement that she carries on her shoulders. How did a young Russian girl who did not grow up speaking Spanish end up becoming one of the top stars that Televisa currently has?

Since she was a child, Irina was curious about the world of acting. “Since I was little I liked acting. I saw novels -Russian and Latin American- and movies and I was always interested in behind the scenes,”she told in an interview with People en Español.

Although her wish was to study acting in her native Russia, when the time came to decide her professional future, the actress ended up opting for a journalism career following the advice of her parents, who suggested that she study a 'more serious' career. "That's why I went to study journalism."

But Irina's true passion was, and still is, acting, which is why at 18 she decided to drop out of college to fight for her dream. A dream that, in her case, had Mexico as her destination.

“When I was studying Spanish in Russia, I saw the Mexican novels Rebelde and Teresa. And I found out that most of the actors are graduates of the CEA [Center for Artistic Education of Televisa]. I looked for the school and wrote them an email to see if, being Russian, I could enter. They answered yes,”explained the 27-year-old interpreter at the time.

As soon as Televisa answered yes, Irina did not think twice and left everything behind, family, friends, home … to fight for her dream of becoming an actress.

Although she did not grow up speaking Spanish, that was not an impediment so that in less than a year, with much effort, Baeva mastered the language almost perfectly.

“In Russia I spent hours and hours doing grammar exercises, watching Mexican novels, reading books, translating songs, among other things. Easy about 8 hours a day. I had enough patience and discipline so I came to Mexico speaking the language without any problem,”he told People en Español in 2016.

The actress landed in Mexico only with a suitcase loaded with many dreams to fulfill, but the illusion of beginning to study an acting career and one day being able to act in one of those soap operas she saw in her native Russia weighed more than everything she had had to leave behind.

“I am a person who adapts easily to changes. I think Mexico is one of the countries that welcomes you with open arms. I couldn't complain, she acknowledged years ago.

Her talent and desire to excel made her soon begin to stand out on Televisa, receiving her first opportunity in 2015 in the soap opera Italian Girl Coming to Marry, which would be, without knowing it at the time, the first step in her successful and promising artistic career.

The rest is history.
