It was like "a movie moment." This is how Nicky Jam describes the moment in which he sweaty and nervous was reunited with his mother, Ysabel Caminero Madera, after being separated from her for 20 years.

The 38-year-old artist related that he was on a tour in the Dominican Republic in 2015 when one of his security agents told him: "There is a woman outside who claims to be your mother."

According to Nicky Jam, since he saw and heard the woman, he knew it was her. "I wanted to be famous to find my mother and it worked," said the singer in an interview with E! News. "We hugged each other there and since then we have not separated."

The interpreter of "Until dawn" explained that his mother and father had addiction problems at a time in their lives. His mother was deported to his native Dominican Republic for a problem with justice; For years his father, a Puerto Rican national, was a fugitive.

Nicky Jam confessed that he saw drugs in his house since he was 5 years old - and by 11 he was smoking. He revealed that at 15 he tried cocaine for the first time after being abandoned by a girlfriend.

In the interview, he added that success came in his 20s, when he was still an addict himself. For the artist, the combination of fame, women, and money made him lose his mind and even go to jail for three years in Puerto Rico.

He further stated that the consumption of so many drugs began to affect his mobility and brought him speech problems. He hit rock bottom and, after having a second chance, gave up drugs and focused on making music and moved to Colombia.
