Jennifer López, Ana de Armas, Antonio Banderas and Brazilian director Fernando Meirelles are some of the nominated Latinos at the next Golden Globes Awards that will be held on January 5 in Beverly Hills, California.

Cuban-Spanish Ana de Armas is nominated for best actress in the musical or comedy category for her memorable leading role in the film Knives Out directed by Rian Johnson, in which a fun tribute is made to the famous crime and mystery novels by the writer Agatha Christie.

“Thank you very much #HFPA for this honor, it still feels like a dream. Congratulations to Daniel, @riancjohnson and the entire @knivesout team,”wrote De Armas on his Instagram.

The multifaceted JLo is nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Ramona in the film Hustlers. After learning the news, the Diva from the Bronx shared a video on her Instagram account visibly excited and without a drop of makeup in which she appreciated having been taken into account.

“I couldn't be prouder to be recognized by #HFPA. Ramona was a complicated character and it was an honor and a challenge to bring her to life. Hustlers was a labor of love, sweat, and perseverance written, produced, edited, and presented by a group of women-at-arms to take. I am proud and honored to represent them and this film. Banderas also aspires to a Golden Globe for best leading actor in a film for his acclaimed role as the protagonist of Pain and Glory, directed by his beloved Pedro Almodovar, who it was who brought him to fame in the 1980s.

The tape The Two Popes nominated for best drama film was directed by the talented Meirelles, well remembered for the feature film Ciudad de Dios that he made with Kátia Lund and which was nominated for four Oscars in 2002.
