The former Miss Universe Dayana Torres expressed her satisfaction and pride for the representative of Puerto Rico at this year's contest, Madison Anderson Berríos, who was second in the gala held on Sunday behind the South African Zozibini Tunzi.

“I am very proud of her, she has raised our Puerto Rico very high. Being the first finalist for us is also a great pride,”said the former Puerto Rican beauty queen in exclusive statements to People en Español about Anderson, who at the time was criticized for allegedly not being Puerto Rican enough for being born in Florida and not speak Spanish fluently.

The model and actress had sent a message of support to her compatriot on social media the day before the beauty pageant was held in Atlanta, GA.

“With a heart full of pride for our representative @madisonandersonberrios #PuertoRico. We are with you Madison! Thank you for representing us so worthily,”he wrote on Instagram.

The director of image of Miss Universe Puerto Rico, Clark Ivor, stressed that to win, it requires intense training, perseverance and, above all, the attitude of a student willing to learn from his teachers.

“You have to love and be persevering in all your training. Let you guide from all the expert workshops in the different branches that you have to polish and enjoy every moment of training and competition”, he observed.
