Natural ingredients intertwined with memories from the most special corners of her native country inspired Adriana Ruano to create Vervan, her own clean cosmetics company, made in Mexico with ingredients from the land, such as coffee or tamarind, and in which the roots and history are protagonists.

Have you always been clear that Mexico would be one of the main pillars of your brand?

YES, they are my roots. What I know and inspires me. We enjoy a diversity of plants, ingredients, ancient heredities of healing and uses of medicinal plants that are intrinsic in our day to day.

How and when did you decide to create your own brand of organic beauty products?

I started more than 10 years ago at home, [making products] for personal and family use, but it was my husband who drove me to develop the brand for just over 5 years and in the process it took us 2 years.

What is one of those ingredients that you feel weak for?

I love corn, in addition to being supernutritive, it has a super-interesting cosmetic active ingredient found in the husk of its kernel: ferulic acid, a very effective antioxidant for the prevention of aging caused by sun damage.

At Vervan there are everything from soaps to moisturizing lotions to tonics, do you have a favorite one?

I have several, but what I always use is chamomile butter. I really like its light texture and it hydrates me perfectly.

What is your secret corner of Mexico to disconnect or reconnect?

I love Oaxaca, it is my favorite state. I like everything: its villages, local traditions, food, its fabrics and its people. It is my second home.
