Discover the moving story of how American Amy Christiansen Si-Ahmed has transformed the lives of low-income women in Tiddas, a small town near Morocco, made with roses, jasmine and unique perfumes. This story will strike a chord with you.

How did you get to the world of perfumes?

I started reading about essential oils, their history, and the sacred rituals around perfume eleven years ago, when a friend gave me a book about it. I wanted to do with perfumes what is being done in fashion: switch to a more ethical assembly line and my friends encouraged me.

How would you describe your brand of perfumery, Sana Jardin?

It is bohemian luxury. A mix of glamor, love of travel, creative fashion and New Age philosophy. Sort of like a Tulum-London merger.

Where do you find inspiration?

There is nothing more beautiful than the fragrances that mother nature creates and I wanted to concentrate those sweeping aromas in a bottle […], and make people feel as if they were in an orange grove in Morocco, a jasmine field in the south from France or surrounded by the most spiritual sandalwood in India.

Why is it a sustainable company?

We work with a women's cooperative in the town of Tiddas, in Morocco. They have no education and only got temporary work picking flowers, so when we offered to give them the training to become entrepreneurs and have a permanent job they were delighted. [In addition] we reuse the leftovers from the distillation of flowers to make candles and rose water that women sell in local markets.

Do you plan to take this model to other countries?

I would love to work in Latin America. In addition to many wonderful ingredients coming from there, I am fascinated by their rituals and traditions around flowers and oils, and I would like to highlight the work of their women.
