It is very normal for a beauty editor to try new products, experiment with new technologies and make facials, especially those used by famous ones. That is why when it comes to receiving an invitation for a facial with a renowned specialist or aesthetic, most do not hesitate to accept. Luckily, almost all experiences are pleasant and I say almost because sometimes trying so much does not do the skin any good and many times we end up worse than we could imagine. That was exactly what happened to Heather Muir, beauty editor for Health and Real Simple magazines.

It turns out that a few weeks ago Muir received an invitation to receive a red carpet facial, or rather a treatment that celebrities normally have just before some important carpet to have the most fresh and radiant skin. For the same reason the editor did not hesitate to try this supposed wonder and see for herself the results. However, her experience practically left her traumatized.

“I entrust my skin, my hair and my body to strangers thinking that for my work I will only receive the best. Many times during this facial I felt uncomfortable and expressed that it felt as if my skin was burning, as if it were on fire. They told me that my skin was probably sensitive,”wrote the editor along with several photos of her face that looked more like it had been attacked by a cat. “When I went to the bathroom to change I saw my red, battered skin. I knew something was happening to me. They told me, 'well that's what you're supposed to promote', to drink a lot of water and to put some oil capsules that they gave me”.

Muir was not neglected and immediately made an appointment with her dermatologist, who prescribed a cream that gradually helped her restore the skin. The publisher's skin now looks radiant and scratch-free as before.

For the weeks following the facial, Muir was using the Luxamend cream, prescribed by his doctor, who also stated that luckily he would not have any marks or scars.

"When you feel like something is wrong, you have to pay attention to your instincts," the editor told a publication. "I told him several times that I was uncomfortable, but I never told him to stop and the truth is that I regret not having done it."

This experience serves us all as an experience when undergoing some beauty treatment, however recommended and popular it may seem. Has something similar happened to you?
