If we want to always have a radiant face and remove wrinkles as much as possible, we must take care of the skin every day without exception. And, in order to see concrete results, we need to create a routine with products suitable for our needs. But, although we take great care of ourselves, we cannot deny that our skin suffers a lot when we are on vacation, especially because we don't sleep well or simply because the climate of the place we are visiting does not favor us. So as soon as we return home we must begin to counteract all the damage that we probably cause to our skin.

We spoke with Mariana Vergara, an expert in aesthetic medicine, to give us some advice to restore the freshness and vitality to the skin after a fabulous vacation.

What can happen during the holidays

Many people travel and are exposed to extreme weather changes and drastic temperature variations that can weaken the capillaries of the skin and therefore tend to become drier and more sensitive than normal. The cold causes vasoconstriction which means that the capillaries of the skin contract and the circulation decreases. This causes not enough oxygen and nutrients to reach our skin. Also dead cells accumulate in the skin and cell renewal decreases.

Treatments you recommend

I suggest several facials that help regenerate the skin and also hydrate it. They also prevent any type of inflammation and free radicals that age it.

What we can do at home

I always recommend exfoliating at least three times a week. A very easy homemade recipe is to use sugar with any type of cleanser for the face. The granules are gentle on the skin and help remove all dead cells and impurities.

When the skin has a deeper problem

If the skin is very dry and has accumulation of dead cells, the ideal is to make a facial with exfoliation in order to remove the first layer of the skin and thus regenerate. I recommend the dermaplane, which is a treatment that uses a very fine sterile scalpel and passes over the entire face exfoliating and removing the first layer of skin. The skin becomes softer and increases the capacity for regeneration. This regeneration process slows down over time. At 20s, it regenerates every 20 days, at 30s every 30 days. In order for the skin to regenerate faster, it must be exfoliated.

Another recommended facial to restore shine to the skin

I do the oxygen facial which uses oxygen under pressure which facilitates the penetration and absorption of different types of solutions. One of the things used is hyaluronic acid, a natural substance found in our skin that helps hydrate it. It also has antioxidants like vitamin A, C, E and green tea. This treatment improves circulation, facilitates the elimination of toxins, generates new cells and stimulates the production of collagen.
